Parental Involvement
The West london Free School has been set up by a group of parents and teachers who want to create the kind of school they would like their children to go to. We hope that all applicants to the West london Free School will share our vision. We know that a great education will not come without a huge amount of hard work from children, staff and parents and we hope that you will want to take an active part in school life and help shape the school from the start. The most important role every parent can play is in supporting their own child. You can help the school by ensuring children respect our uniform policy, that homework is done on time and by engaging with the teachers to ensure that consistent messages are given at home and at school.
There are many other ways in which parents can get involved and where we’ll need your support:
Extra-curricular activities
We aim to provide a wide range of extra-curricular activities and hope that parents will volunteer their time and expertise to make our extra-curricular offer as rich as possible. We're also asking parents to make a voluntary monthly donation to help fund this programme.
Sport
We want sport to play a big part in school life and while the school is developing we need to create links with other schools and clubs to ensure children can enjoy as many sports as possible and be able to play competitively. Please help us build these links and run the after-school clubs.
Visiting speakers
We want the school to have a regular stream of interesting visitors from a wide range of professions, talking to pupils, giving lectures to different societies, etc. We hope parents will be able to help with this, both by volunteering to come and speak themselves and through their contacts. As the school develops there will be opportunities for parents to become involved in our careers and work experience programmes as well.
Parent Teacher Association
The PTA has been set up to raise funds for activities for all our pupils to enjoy. All parents and guardians of the school are automatically PTA members. You can contact us with ideas and suggestions here pta@wlfs.org. Our PTA page contains further information about our activities.
Parent governors
We want there to be at least two parents on our Board of Governors and elections will be held at the end of Michaelmas or start of Lent term.
