Welcome to the West London Free School
Admissions for September 2012
The West London Free School received nine applicants for each of its 120 places in September, making it the most popular state secondary school in the local area. All successful applicants should have been contacted by their Local Authority by now, as well as by us, and we would appreciate it if you could let us know whether you intend to take up the place as soon as possible. You can do so by emailing the school here. As successful applicants will know, we expect all those who accept a place to sign a Home-School Agreement agreeing to abide by all the school policies. Once we've received this from you, as well as the Admissions Form, we'll then send you a Welcome Pack with more details about the school, including a summer reading list.
For those of you who've received an offer and haven't yet made up your minds, I'd urge you to read our prospectus and take a look at our staff. You should be aware that the school offers children a classical liberal education – that is, a core of academic subjects complemented by Art, Music, Drama and Sport. All the children are expected to study Latin from 11-14 and if they give it up at the end of Year 9 they'll be expected to study a Modern Foreign Language instead. Ideally, we'd like them to do both. We cater for children of all abilities, but we don't offer any vocational or technical subjects.
Update
We have now filled nearly all the places for the next academic year, but we may still go out with one or two last-minute offers. If you're wondering what your chances of being offered a place are, you can contact the school here and we'll tell you where you are on our waiting list. Email is by far the best way of contacting us to find out this information and we would ask you not to come to the school in person.
